What is data science?

What do you think data scientist do  in their day to day  work?

My answer:

Based on my experience in performance monitoring and fault management in online banking system, data scientist use raw data from whole system and tries to find important events in whole data and tries to relate each event of each subsystem to other subsystem and making analytical report which help to diagnose the problems, and create statistical report for predicting future behavior of system and making a model for simulating some desired cases and make report for better decision making about changing the configuration of system and making system to work with better performance.

Based o my experience in biotechnology , genetic and individualized medicines  projects, data scientist tries to used previous records of other peoples genomes ( good and bad genomes) and affect of medicines on their mutation  and tries to predict based on patterns which he find in whole data.

Data Scientist is a scientist who works to on algorithm to get :

1) Faster response from big data

2) Accurate response

3) Filtering data

4) Inserting and updating data as fast as possible

5)Using distributed and parallel processing

6)Analyze data and create some algorithm for generating analytical reports

A data scientists day to day job may vary from company to company and from industry to industry. There is really no right or wrong answer.

What does it means  for a data scientist to have ' Substantive  expertise' and why  is it important?

my answer :

Substantive expertise skill means ability to understand the data and describing the relation of data to real world concepts, It help data scientist to model the data with some tools and graphs.

Data Analysis is a tool for processing a and solving problems!
